Cristina Elizabeth Fernández was born in Tolosa, La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, daughter of Eduardo Fernández (of Spanish heritage) and Ofelia Esther Wilhelm (of German heritage).( www.npr.org) She studied law at the National University of La Plata during the 1970s.
